Islamic Studies

The main ingredient of the education for students at Fort McMurray Islamic School is the development of their Islamic faith. The focus of the Islamic Studies curriculum is to familiarize the students with the Islamic beliefs and practices, and to enhance their understanding of the practical aspect of their faith. The approach we use is designed to instill a love for Allah (SWT) and an acknowledgement of the Prophetic example. To accomplish this, students get daily instruction in three specialty subjects: Islamic Studies, Qur'an and Arabic.

The curriculum is built around a series of ethic-based themes, and incorporates age-appropriate learning materials and activities. Students use “I Love Islam” book series for Grades one to five.  As for grade six, students use “Learning Islam 1” book.  As students progress from one grade level to the other, they learn how to practice the basic rituals of worship (Al-‘Ibadah), and the Articles of Faith (Arkan-ul-Iman). They learn important highlights from the life of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and recognize his importance to Muslims and the world. They also learn about the lives of other prophets and analyze their stories for important lessons
