School Uniforms

Dress Code

At Fort McMurray Islamic School, students are expected to dress in a manner that is reflective of our school community. 

Uniforms are a requirement for the students to wear at FMIS.

K-6

Please ensure your child is wearing their proper uniform:

Boys should wear navy blue trousers and a buttoned-down white shirt. 

Girls should wear a white long-sleeve shirt, navy trousers, navy jumper and white hijabs. 

BOYS UNIFORM:

Navy Blue Pants, White Collar shirt with Full sleeve

GIRLS UNIFORM:

White Hijab, Blue Jumper, White Collar full sleeve Shirt, Navy Blue Pants

Junior High students:

Boys are required to wear a long-sleeved shirt and full-length pants.

Girls are required to wear an abaya or a long skirt and are welcome to wear any colour Hijab. 

Student safety and well-being are our highest priorities. Students are expected to refrain from wearing, carrying, or displaying any clothing or accessories which pose a safety hazard. 

Uniforms can be purchased at independent stores or here at the school.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
