Wendy Strickland

Hello FMIS students and parents! Welcome back to the 2023-2024 School Year!
My name is Ms Wendy Strickland, and I am the Learning Assistance Coordinator (LAC Teacher) at FMIS. This year I will also be the kindergarten teacher.
Originally, I am from Newfoundland, where I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree at Memorial University. From there I moved to Calgary, Alberta where I completed the Master of Teaching BEd. Program at the University of Calgary. Upon graduating, I was a teacher on call for the Calgary Board of Education, where I also landed my first teaching assignment in a Grade 4/5 Gifted Education Program. In 2008, I made the decision to move to Northern Alberta, where I have worked for both Northland School Division, as well as Fort McMurray Public.
Since 2010 I have been a teacher at the Islamic School. Working with the students of FMIS brings me great joy and I feel very privileged in my role, as I work together with staff, students, and parents to help facilitate growth and learning for the children in our care.
In my time outside of the classroom, I enjoy travelling, music, the great outdoors, and most importantly spending time with my family (especially my daughter).
