STEM is currently offered to grades 4, 5 and 6 students. It runs Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch recess. FMPSD has a two year roll-out plan for STEM education in schools: Year One is technology-based, while the 2016-2017 Year Two incorporates hands on activities and technology together. With this program students have learned on-line coding and how to design their own graphics, explored Google Apps for Education, and Build with Chrome. They have recently begun using an online infographic-maker called PiktoChart, and have started their very own blog.
This independent club has come up with some school initiatives of their own as well. Our blog will be a platform for STEM students to not only share what they are doing, but what our school is doing through some amateur reporting! STEM is an excellent program for any students with an interest in science, math, or technology. We are excited to share what these innovative students envision on a class set of Chrome Books to use as part of our STEM program. These are very much appreciated! We are excited to try them out.
