This was the second year for the FMIS Knitting Club! The club was open for students in Grades 5 and 6, meeting weekly after school. Students learned how to cast on stitches, the basic knit stitch, the purl stitch, as well as casting off stitches. Students worked on beginner projects such as scarves and wristlets. The Promethean Board was used for instruction as well as hands on instruction provided by the Grade 5 teacher, Mrs. Furlong. Although the knitting club sessions are over for the current school year, there are plans to expand the program next year! The feedback from students, staff, parents, and community members has been very favourable and we look forward to another exciting opportunity to build on existing knitting skills next year.
